Argos to Open NCAA Regionals with Florida Southern

first_img Share Argos to Open NCAA Regionals with Florida Southern INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – One day after defeating North Alabama for its four straight Gulf South Conference championship, the University of West Florida volleyball team learned it will face Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Southern in the first round of the NCAA South Regionals.West Florida (25-9) is slated as the No. 4 seed after finishing the year at 25-8 while Florida Southern comes in at No. 5 with a 17-12 mark. The Argonauts and the Moccasins will play for the third time this season on Thursday, Nov. 17, in the opening round in Tampa, Fla.Florida Southern took the first meeting, 3-1, back on Sept. 10, in the Colorado Premier Challenge. The Argos avenged the early season loss by dropping the Mocs in straight sets during the UWF Regional Crossover later in the year.The University of Tampa (29-1) is tops in the region once again and will start off with No. 8 Kentucky State (22-18). GSC runner up North Alabama (24-9) will play as the No. 6 seed, facing No. 3 Rollins (23-10) while No. 7 Christian Brothers (24-10) will play No. 2 Eckerd (25-4).The 2011 season marks the sixth straight that the Argos have made it to the NCAA Tournament.
