GLASSELL PARK – Police today were searching for three gang members who exchanged gunfire with police, authorities said. Police said the incident began about at 2:15 a.m. Sunday near Drew Street and Weldon Avenue after police heard several rounds of semi-automatic gunfire, police said. When police stopped their car on Weldon, they said saw three men in their late teens to early 20s drove by in a black four-door vehicle and fired several rounds in the officers’ direction. Police said that Los Angeles police Officer Richard Priest, 33, a five-year veteran of the LAPD, returned fire as the suspects sped off. There were no injuries. Officers from the Force Investigation Division and the Robbery-Homicide Division were investigating the incident.
